The Upper Harbor Terminal is an active shipping dock, moving at least 1.8 Million Tons of various materials such as sand, gravel, scrap metal, cement and other general commodities a year. The current owner, the city of Minneapolis, had some plans in the early 2000's to redevelop the area for housing and parks but the plans were never solidified. So the Upper Harbor Terminal sits as is and is minimally maintained to the point where material shipping can still be done.
