Whats TCUR?

TCUR or also known as Twin Cities Urban Recon is a group of friends who enjoy exploring alot and do it in our spare time. We enjoy exploring together, with other people, research history of abandoned areas of life, and did I mention, explore?

What the hell do we do?

Urban exploration is part adventure, part history, and part plain curiosity. Often, it’s like discovering something that’s slipped through time to the present day. It brings history to life.

Another aspect of what we do is explore the forgotten industries of the past and even modern facilities that once served a purpose but no longer have life...

This can include Grain Elevators, Mills, Abandonded Warehouses and even Depots all the way to Brewery Caves, Brewery Cellers, Tunnels, Drains, and even basements. Whatever there is to explore that time or people have forgotten and left to dissapear in a self rotting tomb of time we go there, get in, photgraph it and then do background research and try to preserve it to the best of our ability.

This "hobby" or "obsession" of ours can be filed under many different names.

For example, some of the most well known names of our hobby are as follows:

Urban Exploration
Urbex
Draining
Spelunking
Tunnel Rats

Cavers

Those probably best describe in a single word what we do. Explore.

Why do we do it?

We love history, but we also carry that rare trait among modern society to go where other people wont for whatever reason. It could be because people frown upon exploration, maybe they dont want to get some dirt on there hands, or maybe its simply the risk. To explore, document and preserve the past is what we do.

We arent criminals, sometimes we walk the line or bend the law, but we come out on a positive note either for ourselves, modern society and often both.
